Solent Road, East Wittering

This customer came to HD Living group initially wanting to only take down their chimney. During lockdown they then decided to do a ‘grand design’ project and gain some extra living space and improve the design of inside and outside of the property. We added some gluelam trusses beams in the kitchen to give it a real classic feel and it looks beautiful. We also constructed a new patio area to the rear of the property.

New Build, Sea View House

HD Developments was chosen by the clients, who were also the architect and interior designers on the project, to build the home of their dreams.

In May 2021 we arrived on-site once the previous property on the plot had been demolished.

The timber frame construction consists of an open plan ground floor living/dining area and kitchen, with a separate bathroom and utility room. On the first floor are three bedrooms and a wetroom all with skylights to let in plenty of light.

The exterior of this unique property is clad entirely in Larch. This caused some issues with the supply of the larch and meant an 18-week delay on the build while we awaited delivery. Fortunately, our flexible project management meant we could secure the site and leave to work on other projects while we waited, ready to jump back on site as soon as the cladding arrived.

Cople Hoo

This customer bought a new build and they didn’t like the layout. They contacted us and we were invited in to run through some better ideas on how to create a better home and open it all up. We completely opened the home up for an open plan living space and also added a garden room to the rear. Perry took his ideas and designed the house exactly for what they want to use their house for and the result is truly breathtaking.

Single Story Extension, Chichester

We were employed by a private client to construct a single story ground floor extension to increase the size of their existing kitchen/family room. We also fitted a new kitchen with associated bespoke cabinet work, landscaped the back garden and created a new side access to the garden.

Witterings Medical Centre – Extension for Drug Dispensing Robot

We were employed by the owners of Witterings Health Centre to construct a new extension to house their new state-of-the-art BD Rowa ProLog automated drugs dispenser.

We tendered against other local and national contractors and was chosen by the consultant in charge of the project because our tender demonstrated best value for money and provided the best level of detail.

Surveyor Stephen Holmes FRICS produced the drawings we were asked to tender against but our experience was called upon with regards to the structural design of the extension. Weighing around 6 tonne the new drugs dispenser would require a reinforced floor. We made recommendations which were worked into the drawings.

Being on the corner of a busy road the dispenser had previously been damaged when an elderly motorist drove into the building. To prevent such an incident occurring again and putting the dispenser out of action the extension was a steel frame construction.

The schedule for completing the project was just six months from starting on site. There was no allowance for slippage before the delivery date for the drugs dispenser, which was arriving from Germany along with an installation team.

We worked alongside the shopfitting company and coordinated the delivery and installation of the dispenser with the team from Germany, but all other trades were provided and managed by us to provide the client with a turnkey solution, ensuring best value and minimising the number of contractors on site.

Unique Rear Extension

Having seen some of our other work in the village we were asked to take on this project by the customers as we had a good background of steel work.

The architect had designed a window seat that required some strength to it , Timber design would not stand the test of time on this so we used a steel structure to provide strength and support.

The customers originally were unsure of what to have as a finish roof so we suggested a lead roof to compliment the larch cladding. This really was the icing on the cake as our lead worker is a craftsman in his own right.

We have just recently been asked to come back to start the second phase of the project with a unique sun room as a side extension and a knock through into the kitchen area.
